What a beautiful day. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky and the temperature was tolerable for even my mom, so I decided to take her to the zoo. We found Amy right away, near the entrance & started our experience with a complimentary ride on the Zoo mobile. Amy gives a very informative tour with a little history of the zoo & its animals, new exhibits, and up coming events. She went into detail about 2 of the elephants which she named Marilyn & Mark. (my mom and I)  It was a good similarity because I learned that elephants don’t perspire (which I rarely do).  They cool themselves with their ears! (I’ll have to work on that one!)  Well, after ½ hour and 4 gift shops later we got a little hungry. The Zoo restaurant was a bit too busy so we ventured to a nearby hot dog stand. Mom found the hot dogs to be pretty good, although that’s coming from a woman who would rather have them boiled in water than on the grill! Not knowing what kind of meat could be in a hot dog found at the zoo, I needed one with jalapeño peppers on! After all that we finally got to see some animals! We journeyed into the Ape building where they have a wonderful Orangutan exhibit. Lots of information displayed about them. Mom found it fascinating that the animals could see us through the same glass we saw them through! By the time we got outside the building the jalapeños were starting to take effect and thankfully we were by the monkey play area so I could blame it on them! Well, that was about it for my mom, so we had to head back to the car. We saw a lot of interesting things on the way back though. Thanks to mom I know now where every “build an animal” plastic mold machine is at the Milwaukee County Zoo.!
